| Description | This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to work safely as a safety observer/spotter in civil construction. This includes identifying and managing worksite hazards, establishing exclusion zones and observing work activities to monitor the safety of the work environment. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take some responsibility for the quality of work outcomes. Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit. |

| Career Pathways | The unit of competency described in this course will form part of the RII Resources and Infrastructure Training Package. The successful student will receive a Statement of Attainment listing the successfully completed units of competency completed in this course. |

| Assessment Requirements | The course will be based on theoretical sessions, equipment demonstrations and practical exercises. Participants who are deemed competent will receive a Nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by RIKLAN Emergency Management Services (RTO 51994) under the Australian Qualifications Framework. |

| Delivery Mode | Face to face and practical hands-on training conducted by an experienced Trainer/Assessor with strong knowledge of relevant Legislation, Australian Standards and Codes of Practice. |

| Materials or Equipment Required | Participants must wear long pants, long sleeve shirts and enclosed shoes. |

| Notes | If you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment for this unit. |
